FALL FESTIVAL UPDATE
Part 1: September 11 &12
Fall Festival Part 1 —- A Success! Thank You! Thank You!
Our weekend began with the uplifting music, Blue Grass style, led by Soul Sabbath. Thank you so much to Jill Rosenthal and the group of musicians and singers who brought a great start with our 4 pm Mass. The music brought enthusiasm and participation from the parishioners and visitors alike!
The church and Parish Office wing were filled with the aroma of a great Chicken Dinner on Saturday, and irresistible aromas of grilled brats & burgers on Sunday. Thank you to all who worked on cooking, packaging, delivering and handing out the meals : your help was deeply appreciated.
Our Raffle continued all weekend to draw folks to purchase tickets and take a chance to win one of these absolutely AMAZING baskets ( or the gardening/potting station handcrafted by St. Joe’s own master-woodworker, Mike Bierstaker). Many thanks to Rachel, Alaina and Brian Schauf and Mark and Cis Holzhauer for all the hours of hard work ! You all did a tremendous job with this portion of the Fall Festival.
Our Bake Sale drew many donations and people to purchase these delectable items. As usual, our Bakers did an outstanding job ! We have all put on a few pounds...but it was worth it! Thanks to Carol Hartman, Mary Beth Comerford and all the other helpers who took time from their weekend to sell these yummy treats.
Did you get a chance to look at the Plants and Produce? Our parishioners brought in many plants and produce grown in their own gardens. Whitey from the Downtown Farmer’s Market dropped off some great produce, for which we are extremely grateful. Rich Young provided potatoes, green beans and so many other vegetables for canning, the dinner and for purchase. St. Joe’s was extremely well supported by our gardeners. THANK YOU so much. Gina Porter and her crew did a great job selling the items that were provided.
Also, you may have noticed our parish Canner’s outdid themselves once again this year ! Goods remain available on a donation basis, and many new items continue to arrive, so check them out! Thanks to all who helped supply items to be canned or who canned fabulous jellies, salsas, veggies, pickled eggs, etc.
Your presence and participation helped to make Fall Festival Part 1 a true Success. From the donations of gift cards, objects and encouragement, our festival thrived this year. While different than two years ago, we remain blessed to have folks donate, purchase and bid on items. Mostly, the camaraderie of the event did not go unnoticed : you could feel the spirit of our community throughout the building. As always, St. Joe’s showed all the true meaning of faith, hospitality and welcome.
Thank you to Rich Young, Bob Comerford and Jim Biesterveld for working diligently to setup and cleanup from the Festival. You are truly gifts to St. Joe’s Parish.
As always, thank you to the entire Fall Festival Committee, especially our chairperson, Jacque, for the many hours of planning and finding a way to navigate our festival through these trying times ! Also, thank you to anyone we missed in this brief note.
Many other items have been donated and will be used in Parts 2 & 3 of our Festival.
Watch for more information about October 30 & 31 as well as November 13 & 14.
